Check points and road blocks in the U.S.?

I heard Oliver Stone got busted at a checkpoint in the LA basin the other day and it got me wondering what the heck are we doing with check points and road blocks in the United States of America? I thought these Gestapo tactics were outlawed years ago. I remember South Carolina stopped doing it in the late 90's. I figured they were the last bastion for this type of Nazi behavior. But wait, NEWS FLASH, they are doing it in Minnesota too.

Stillwater, Minnesota (birthplace of Minnesota) down on the St. Croix River between Minnesota and Wisconsin has been setting up roadblock checkpoints for the last few years to bust people crossing over the border into Minnesota from Wisconsin. They rip cars apart looking for drugs and give breathalyzer tests to everyone they check. Where do these guys get off invading our privacy? Stillwater likes to set up their Gestapo stop on all of the big holidays like Memorial Day and the 4th of July.

For those of you wanting to avoid the Stillwater Gestapo, head down the Wisconsin shore of the St Croix River (hwy 35) thru Hudson, WI and cross the river at the Interstate 94 bridge. It is about 15 miles out of the way; but, might save you from a holiday in jail.

If this type of thing is as upsetting to you as it is to me, write your congressman a letter and tell him/her to cease and desist from this kind of crap. This is America!
