Election 2008 - What's really going on?
| Hi, As we approach the 2008 Presidential Elections, I thought it a good time to ponder what is really going on out there. Hopefully something changes soon here in America for the better. These are some good places to start: Infrastructure: Infrastructure in the United States is eroding rapidly. Nothing is being done to rectify this and the United States is slipping fast globally. What we need: A complete makeover for the Interstate Highway System. We need new bridges, new roads, alternate transportation systems, lights on all railroad crossings (even on the dead end roads). We also need new dams, new schools, new hospitals, new solutions for the elderly (baby boomers). Look no further than the beautiful buildings going up in China and Dubai. "If we build it, they will come". Build new malls, new cities and new jobs. I am not talking about strip malls. I am talking about huge, beautiful structures, maybe a pyramid or two. Something that 1) Creates jobs. 2) Creates cash flow and builds communities. 3) People want to see it! Not Los Vegas, even more spectacular. Think about the twin towers for a minute. There is still nothing there. 100 years ago the United States would have replaced them with triple towers, twice as tall. Back when we were proud and free. What do we do instead, we build weapons systems, blow shit up and pay Hallburton billions of dollars to make a bunch of half built structures we can blow up again. If you never have to finish something, you can keep getting deposits of cash to start over. What does improving our infrasture do for us? It saves money and makes money. Think of what the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis cost versus the price of some new gusset plates. Think of New Orleans and their dike made of mud protecting a whole city. Think about 5 days for FEMA to get water to people in the Superdome. Think about the 170 billion dollars we gave to corporate America last year (3 times the budget for welfare recipients). Why don't we spend that money here building stuff for Americans. Think about the tax relief last year? They should have gave everyone $20,000.00 to buy down their debts and save their houses. All of the money would come right back to the central bank and to the feds so what is the harm? The harm is the people running this country own the central bank. Can you name one officer of the central bank? No one can but they talk about the central bank on CNN everyday. Where is the big problem today? Corporate America has bailed out on us and become Corporate Global. Here is the crux of the problem. Back in the 40's and 50's companies promised great retirement benefits, then when it came time to pay, they ran the companies into the ground, filed bankruptcy and voila! no benefits to pay. Then congress passed a law protecting retirement from bankruptcy proceedings. Now corporate America promises great retirement benefits (with bankruptcy protection) but no "CLOSE THE FACTORY AND MOVE TO MEXICO PROTECTION). The funny thing is that the companies that moved to Mexico 6 or 8 years ago will have to get out of there too, before they have to start paying benefits to the Mexicans. On we go. So what does all of this have to do with the election? Let's look at our choices: 1) War veteran, POW, man with no charisma at all. The most boring person anyone has ever tried to listen to, Mr John McCain. 2) Black man, likes basketball, wants to help poor Americans, knows nothing about global politics, may have a woman running mate, democratic party puppet, Mr Baraco Bama or is it Barack O'Bama or? To me this sounds too much like one of Bin Laden's thugs for my personal trust. Where is Bin? Haven't heard from him lately. Maybe he will be the running mate. Why do we need a black man, a muslim, a jew, a christian, a nazi, a woman, a loser, an idiot or a womanizer? Why can't we have a real president. An intelligent American blue caller worker who actually cares about the economy, mistrusts government and wants to help his "fellow" citizens, regular Americans? Because they would shoot him and put their VP puppet boy in there to resume business as usual. Ah, but I digress. Staff writer: James Beaver James is a 3 year Army veteran.
