NFL Football News - 14 October 2007
Patriots paste Dallas in Big D. Pats remain undefeated and likely are headed to the first 19-0 season in NFL history. The Pats are unstoppable. I said it 2 months ago and I say it again today. Patriots go all the way. Today: Pats 48 - Dallas 27
Packers slide by The Redskins. Neither team wanted this one. Cheeseheads 17 - Foreskins 14. Can Joe Gibbs win again? We all love Joe. Who else could win three SuperBowl with all of those crummy quarterbacks.
Vikes survive scare and eek it out against the Bears in Soldier field. The Vikes tried to give one to the Bears today but won in spite of themselves. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota one) is the real deal. He lopes like Bobby Smith and guts it out up the middle like Larry Csonka. Final total today was Adrian Peterson 20 carries 224 yards, 3 TD's, a 53 yard kickoff return (which set up Longwells game winner of 55. HIs longest game winner). The Vikes coach took heat all week for sitting Peterson in the second half last week. Have you ever seen a coach pull a guy out at halftime that ran for 105 yards in the first half. Well the Vikes did it last week. They only called 28 twice in the second half of that one. Who wonders why they just got to 2-3? Like I said, Peterson is the real deal and the best RB for Minnesota since Herscell Walker, Lucky for MN tht they didn't need to give up 11 guys to Dallas to get him. If he stays healthy they will be soon comparing him to all of the great ones (except the greatest, OJ SImpson). Has he killed anyone lately? I loved the juice. Too bad he went crazy. What the hell was the deal in Vegas? It looks like his armed buddies are going to testify against him for armed robbery for stealing stuff he had stolen from him. They are going to hang him this time. Adios OJ..
Sad fact: I still bleed purple red and gold. I grew up with the inept Minnesota Golden Gopher football team and the Vikings who can't win the big one. So I know losers. The Golden Gophers haven't won the national championship since before I was born. Their last Rose Bowl win was in 1961. Their last conference championship was a tie with perennial doorstop Indiana. They are the king of the fold. They did it yesterday against Northwestern (up 35-21 in the 4th and lose on a two point try 49-48 in double overtime. Their offense gets the nod for gutting it out. #8 played like Joe Montana (do you know who #8 is for Minnesota). I rest my case. He is Adam Weber 25-38-341-2 yesterday (one of the picks was a gift off a tip). Oh yeah, ask Braylon Edwards about the Gopher fold in Michigan. The Gophers forgot to cover Braylon in the 4th quarter and he scorched them. The Gophers gave up the 20+ point lead on the road in Ann Arbor that year. I digress. This is an NFL page.
Cleveland (this year's surprise) wins again today 41-31 over Miami - Braylon Edwards pulls in a couple of nice TD's, Winslow caught 5 for 55 and Anderson looked good but who doesn't against Miami (0-6).
St Louis also 0-6 falls today to Baltimore 22-3 in the contest between Minnesota's ex offense coordinators turned coaches, Billick and Linehan. Who was it that said St Louis was going to the SuperBowl this year? A TV analyst perhaps?
Philadelphia beat the Jets in the who cares game today, 16-9. Who said the Eagles were going to the SuperBowl?
Carolina (4-2) donws Arizona (3-3) 25-10 - Rattay sucks. Carolina's colors contrast well with Arizona so colorblind Vinnie T., for Timeless, rolls (20 of 33).
Jacksonville pounds Houston 37-17. Houston is better but.......Patriots are going 19-0 so PFTD (play for the draft).
Cincinnati 20, slapped around by, Kansas City 27 - Another melt down year along the River in Cincinnati (1-4). They have a real scary 1-4 team though. KC beginning to roll.
TampaBay wins the ugly game of the day 13-10 over Tennessee. Two teams going toward another heartbreak year (just missing the playoffs and getting crappy draft picks).
San Diego 28 - Oakland 14 Tomlinson had 24 carries for a buck ninety eight. Culpepper played well for the second week but it wasn't enough. He needs to score 5 times per game to hold up that fearsome Raiders D.
New York Giants VS Atlanta on Monday night in the Georgia Dome. Guess: Giants 23 - Atlanta 17 (post report Giants won 31-10, Beav 1-0 on 07 pics)
The surprise of the day is New Orleans handing their asses to the Seahawks 28-17 with 1:16 left in the 4th quarter. Sorry Kirk P of Port Angeles. You never know though. If anyone can lose this one it is NO. The biggest folder since well uh, the Minnesota Gophers, (post report that was the final 28-17).
